Business Awards – Why should I nominate myself?

Ever year, I see more award ceremonies happening across West Sussex and beyond. Why is this happening? Because they work. They work for the promoters, sponsors and most importantly they work for businesses. Awards are the opportunity for you to shout about your business and what you have achieved in the last year, because, let’s face it, who is in a better position to shout about what you have achieved than you? Quite often business awards are led by a local paper, or sponsored by a local paper, if you are a winner or even a runner up, then there is every chance you will get some fantastic PR coverage for your business.
The PR coverage is only one aspect of the benefits of an awards event to a business. They provide an opportunity to meet and learn about other businesses that are on your doorstep and working with other local businesses has a twofold affect your credibility. You are helping to sustain the local economy and you are reducing the amount of miles travelled by your products, helping to bolster your companies green credentials. Further to this, they are also an opportunity to reward your team with a fun night out and inspire them to be up on stage the following year to collect an award.
Green credentials are fast becoming an important part of business, as discussed in the last issue. This year there is a Sustainable Business Awards Ceremony for Sussex, Crawley had their 9th Green Business Awards in 2007 and most other Business Awards Ceremonies have a Green Business Award. If your company is embracing the green ethos, then the winners of the Green Business Awards are the ones you will want to do business with.
