A new lease for Butlins

Butlins has been granted a new 125-year lease in a move which Arun District Council believe will lead to millions of pounds worth of investment being pumped into Bognor Regis.
The lease, which is being signed today (17th April), has been approved by the Government and was granted on the basis that Butlins carry out substantial investment in the resort.
This week, the Council has also approved plans for a £20million spa hotel to be built at the resort and it is hoped that this will be open for use by Summer 2009. The hotel will feature 200 rooms and replace Butlins' older acommodation and former call centre.
The Butlins development is part of the wider regeneration strategy for Bognor Regis, in which half a billion pounds is expected to be invested in the town in the next decade.
