Two thirds of travellers more likely to hire a car if they didn’t have to rent a full day reveals Hertz survey
Hertz has launched a new short term car rental service, ‘Hertz 369,’ at over 1200 city and airport locations in Europe. Hertz 369 offers customers the choice and freedom of renting a car for less than 24 hours - perfect for an outing, visiting friends and family, running errands, airport transfers, and avoiding expensive taxis. Customers can hire a car for three or six hours for short day trips, or nine hours for overnighters, and even pick it up at one location and drop it off at another for no extra charge.
The announcement comes on the heels of recent survey findings conducted by Hertz in UK, which reveal that almost two-thirds (61%) of travellers would be more likely to hire a car if they didn’t have to rent it for a full day. The findings also show that almost one in two people (46%) would whisk away a loved one for a countryside picnic if they had a car for six hours, and nearly one in five (18%) would visit a distant friend or relative.*
Other responses in the survey included “running essential errands” (12%), “shop till I drop in another city” (7%), and “other” (16%). Popular answers for the response marked “other” included: taking a trip to the beach, driving around the countryside to enjoy the scenery, conducting a test drive, and visiting a nearby city.
The convenient Hertz 369 service can be booked through reservations (tel 08708 448844), at a Hertz location, or online at www.hertz.co.uk. The service is available at city and airport locations across Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
Prices for Hertz 369 in the UK start from £35 for three hours, £43 for six hours and £60 for nine hours (6pm – 9am), with 100, 200 and 300 miles inclusive respectively (prices do not include fuel). Car groups available include economy (Ford Fiesta 1.25 or similar) and compact vehicles (Ford Focus 1.6 LX or similar). All rentals include 24 hour emergency road side assistance, collision damage waiver, theft protection, location and airport service charge, vehicle license fee and tax.
Mark Tristram-Walmsley, commercial director of Hertz UK, said: “Hertz is dedicated to providing customer choice, and is constantly developing its offering to provide flexible mobility solutions. As the survey results show, people will be more likely to hire a car if they can rent it for a shorter period. Hertz 369 provides customers across Europe a convenient and cost effective means of hiring a personal vehicle for less than 24 hours – so they can, for example, visit nearby attractions, see friends and family, hop to and from the airport, or go to that all-important business meeting.”
