Non-Domestic Rate E-Billing

Have you signed up to express your interest in eBilling yet?   Arun District Council is exploring the possibility of offering its customers the option to receive future Council tax and Non-Domestic Rates bills electronically, rather than through the post. This will probably involve bill payers receiving an email alerting them to their new bill and asking them to log on to an online account to view it. Payment will then be via all the usual channels, but with a big emphasis on Direct Debit. Hopefully, this on-line account will support other council services in the future as well.

Why are we doing this?

Going green - In March alone, we print around 460,000 pieces of paper just to issue the new year’s Council Tax bills, payment slips and financial information leaflets! By making this information available online we can help protect the environment by reducing the amount of paper that we send.

Saving money - by not sending a paper bill, costs relating to paper, printing and postage can all be significantly reduced. These savings could be used to invest in improving other frontline services or for reducing future levels of Council Tax.

We are hoping to get this up and running for the next annual billing run in March/April of next year (2009). If you would like to register your interest in this initiative, please complete our online form at www.arun.gov.uk/ebilling. Your details will be stored so that we can contact you later in the year once the scheme is ready to start. At that point you will be invited to sign up if you wish to do so.
