Frame of Mind, Bognor’s premier picture framing company, is making a vital contribution to the local community, as Neil Hopkins finds out.

Mental health issues can affect us all, at any period of our lives.  And, when they do, having a strong support network is vital.  Support is equally vital for those with learning disabilities, to help people live their lives to the full.  Following the closure of a local day centre, Frame of Mind stepped into the breach, offering training and support opportunities to those in need.

“It has taken us a year to get to this point,” comments Theresa Bates of Frame of Mind.  “But now that we’re here, we’ve got our partnerships with the Sussex Partnership NHS Trust cemented and we’re able to forge forwards.”

It’s this partnership that is crucial to Frame of Mind’s work.  The Trust refers people of all ages to them to be trained in picture framing and customer care issues.  This partnership has enabled the company to become the first CIC (Community Interest Company) in Bognor Regis, a fact which reinforces their commitment to helping those in need in the community.

“For some people,” continues Teresa, “just getting on a bus and coming to work like anyone else is a really big issue.  We work with our trainees to help them develop the life skills that most people simply take for granted.

“A couple of our trainees are currently working on customer projects, while the others are helping out in the office or learning the trade – and our training is carried out to City and Guilds standards, thereby giving it an official endorsement.

“It’s so fulfilling to be working with people who need support, and watching them flourish in their new environment.”

Frame of Mind are currently looking for an accountant and other highly skilled voluntary positions – so if you think that you can help, contact Teresa on 01243 828066 for more information!  They are also open for sponsorship or any form of donation to help them achieve their goals – speak to Theresa for more information.
