There is a growing recognition amongst businesses that employee health and wellbeing is related to a number of benefits such as ‘reduction of sickness absence; lost time due to accidents and associated costs; greater staff engagement and productivity; reduced staff turnover recruitment and costs’ (Healthy people=healthy profits, Business in the Community, Feb 09). Similarly, Fiona Dawson (Managing Director, Mars Chocolate UK) says ‘We know that the wellbeing of our colleagues has a direct impact on productivity and our bottom line’ (Workplace Wellbeing, Food and Drink Federation, 2010).

The Health Trainers are offering to come out to businesses to talk to their employees about the benefits of making healthy lifestyle changes and to tell them how they can work with them on a one-to-one basis to help them do it. They can provide information, motivation and support to help people to eat more healthily, get more active, stop smoking, reduce alcohol intake, lose weight or improve mental health.

The Health Trainers offer a FREE service, are based in Bognor Regis and Littlehampton and are funded by the NHS to support people to make changes to improve their health.

If you would like the Health Trainers to come and talk to your employees, if you would like to make an appointment to see a Health Trainer or you would like more information about the service, please phone 01243 828783 or email jh.brht@cvs-arunwide.org.uk.
